About Stephanie
I was introduced to the healing properties of yoga and meditation over 20 years ago while studying Ayurvedic health and mindful living with Deepak Chopra. Drawn deeper into practice, I immersed myself in Santa Monica's vibrant yoga community, practicing Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa daily with renowned teachers Sara Ivanhoe, Patti Quintero, and Kia Miller.
Yoga and meditation have been my daily touchstone ever since, providing stability through life's many chapters. During my pregnancy, the physical practice, breathwork, and meditation offered not just physical comfort but a profound connection to the journey of creating life. This experience revealed yoga's extraordinary capacity to support major life passages and inspired me to become a teacher.
Committed to learning from lineage holders, I earned my 200 and 500 hour certifications studying directly with one of the world's oldest living yogi masters, Sri Dharma Mittra. His teachings on living the yogic path according to the scriptures were intensive and enlightening. Dharma's emphasis on compassion and service (Karma Yoga) particularly influences my teaching approach.
With this foundation in traditional yoga philosophy, I expanded my expertise to support significant life transitions. I became certified in prenatal yoga, postpartum yoga, and perinatal Ayurvedic care from Awakened Spirit Yoga, as well as a prenatal doula from Doula School Canada. These specialized trainings allowed me to adapt ancient wisdom to serve expecting parents.
I created Nourish Om Yoga to offer a space where everyone—from experienced yogis to complete beginners, from individuals seeking daily wellness to expecting parents—can access the profound benefits of an authentic yoga practice. Whether you're joining a Hatha or Vinyasa class to strengthen your body and calm your mind, or seeking specialized prenatal support, my mission is to help you reconnect with your essential nature.
"When the mind is settled, we are established in our essential nature" - Patanjali
Too often we believe our identity is our thoughts or feelings. Through yoga, we reconnect with our true Self—the unchanging, peaceful presence within.
At Nourish Om Yoga, I create a nurturing space where this reconnection becomes possible, guiding you to recognize and rest in your innate wholeness—whether on the mat, in the birthing room, or navigating everyday life.
